At this meeting we will discuss the remainder of the year’s program, instructions for the Mystery Quilt and Tin Can Exchange & information regarding the Quilt Show

              And Slide Presentation – Reverse Appliqué

 

 

NOVEMBER  - Ellen Teasdale Trunk Show and Workshop

 

Ellen Teasdale will be the feature Quilter for this meeting.  She will have a trunk show of her work as well as teach a workshop on the Friday and Saturday. 

 

The Workshop: Fri. Nov. 9 & Sat. Nov 10th

The workshop will be on French Braid Quilts and will be held at the Bethel Church in Sherwood Park.  Cost for the two day class is $45 and will be 10 am – 4 pm both days.  Kits for this class will be available through J & J Quilting in Edmonton.  Please sign up ASAP as this class will fill up fast.

 

DECEMBER – Catered Christmas Meal and Basket Auction

Tickets for this turkey dinner will be $12 and will be on sale beginning at the October meeting.

Quilters are asked to clean out their “studios” and donate any unused quilting items to this charity raffle.  Once items are received these items will be assembled in baskets and at the December meeting you will be able to purchase tickets on these baskets. Proceeds will go to charity.  A collection basket will be available all year at the raffle table.

 Also, we are thrilled to have Karen Jurek, from Cochrane Ab, treating us to a trunk show.  Karen was featured in the Summer 2007 Canadian Quilters magazine as a “Most Celebrated Quilter”.  Karen is also the Chairwoman for the 2010 Quilt Canada Conference to be held in Calgary.

 

JANUARY - Tribute to Members Night

Two or three members will be chosen to display and talk about their quilting.

February – Canadian Quilt Association Slide Show

While viewing slides of the 2007 Canadian Quilt Conference Quilts you can enjoy hot chocolate and popcorn.

 

MARCH – Mini Workshops

 

Hand appliqué, hand quilting and the Promise Quilt will be offered.  Members will be asked to sign up for the mini workshops the month prior, or by email,  as kits will be available and you will only have time to attend one workshop that evening.

APRIL – Val Boode Trunk Show & Trapunto Demonstration + Workshop

We saw Val last year when she was at the guild with her “Triangulation” method.  This year she will again bring some of her previous and new work, plus give us a demonstration on creating trapunto.

Trapunto Workshop –       Friday, April 11, 6:30-9:00pm

                                      Sat, April 12,  10-4:00 pm

To be held at the Bethel Church in Sherwood Park.  Cost $30

 

MAY -       Victorian  Pleasures  - Crazy Quilting (Betty Caskey of Olds) + Workshop

Betty Caskey will demonstrate the art of crazy quilting as well as bring us a trunk show.

There will also be a mini market of embellishments to use when creating these wonderful quilts.

Crazy Quilting Workshop -  May 9 & 10, 2008  10:00am – 4:00pm.  This two day workshop will feature Crazy Quilting on Day One and Embellishments on Day Two.  To be held at the Bethel Church in Sherwood Park.  Cost $55.00 for the two day class.
